A Golf course in Bytom is being built in the area of a former coal mine KWK Szombierki. It is the biggest post-industrial area revitalization project in Poland.
Post-industrial area, where mines had been stopped from operating several years ago Has gained new landscape and environmental values in that time. Diversified topography, post-mining ponds and rich flora and fauna make this area perfect for leisure and residential purposes.
Golf course design was assigned to an experienced golf course architect and also a member and regional representative of European Institute of Golf Course Architects from Germany Christoph Städler (Städler Golf Courses). His studio deals with both designing new golf courses as well as renovation and redevelopment of the already existing ones. Their Project have been implemented in such countries as the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.
From the very beginning Städler was fascinated and enthusiastic about both the idea and the area intended for a golf course. Richness of the greenery, ponds and the birds inspired the designer to create a unique oasis in the centre of the city.
